Virtual Teaching Platform

As we all are shifting our learning to online platforms and looking for new ways to communicate and share information with our families, I have been searching for different platforms. Today, I am sharing with everyone a fantastic website that I located. This website allows you to communicate and connect with both families and students all for free! During these unprecedented times, I have been utilizing this tool to communicate and share resources with my families and students. This website allows you to share videos, pictures, messages and links all in one location. Class Dojo is very user friendly for families and is set up by he teacher! There are capabilities for children to have their own profiles so that they are able to access the content themselves as well from any tablet, computer or smart phone. Please take a moment to check it out, you won't regret it!

Sesame street has developed a website in which contains lots of great information for teachers during this unprecedented time. They have opportunities for you to expand your professional development in a variety of topics ranging from bullying in the classroom to parent addiction. This resource contains a large selection of topics that are highly relevant within our field of work and can help us become more understanding and compassion within our job.

Whole Brain Learning Tips and Tricks

As preschool teachers we all know that children, especially young children learn better when their whole body and brain is incorporated. On Teach Hub they give a 7 useful steps, tips and tricks to incorporate whole brain learning into your lessons. Whole brain learning can be a great thing to keep in mind during our lesson planning for our online curriculum. Being more mindful of body movement and brain interactions will give children the opportunity to get up and move while learning from home.

Conscious Discipline COVID-19 Resources

During this time, we are all doing our best considering the circumstances. Conscious Discipline has launched a ton of free resources for educators, including webinars that are very informative and focuses on the hot topic of COVID-19. There are resources included on their website designed to be shared with your families. These resources can help families respond effectively and be able to help their children understand why everything in their world is changing. Included with their resources is a downloaded book that families and educators can share with their students that explains why they are unable to go to school and why school is now taking place behind a screen. This book can be especially useful for the younger children. For educators, there are options to further our learning and capabilities by attending a virtual professional development seminar that is geared towards helping schools respond directly to COVID-19.

Edmodo

Edmodo is a distance learning platform that offers ways for students, parents and teachers to connect during the Covid-19 pandemic. Edmodo offers resources for educators to set up their virtual classrooms, ways to engage their students and guides that help you learn how to live stream your content with your students. This tool could be very helpful if you are still looking for a distance learning platform that you, your students and your families are comfortable and confident in navigating and using the tools provided. 

NAEYC

NAEYC is one the best places for Early Childhood Professionals to obtain resources and trainings, especially during a time of crisis like we are facing currently. NAEYC offers lots of resources and webinars that are directed to help you as an educator navigate and discuss the hot topic of COVID-19 with your students. NAEYC also offers some great resources to help further your professional development and better your overall knowledge on the topic of early childhood education. Currently, NAEYC has an area designated to help support children's learning while being home. There are lots of wonderful articles, videos and tips to help you and your students!
